Medical image processing

Image processing defines algorithms to process 2D and 3D digital images for meaningful interpretation of image content. Modern medical science has seen unprecedented growth in the use of imaging technology. Medical domain specific sensors are generating a wide variety of signals, which are visualized as digital images – either as a static image frame or as a video. Therefore, it’s becoming imperative that more and more image processing algorithms are necessary to process these images.

The overall objective of these imaging applications is to use it as diagnosis-aiding tool helping medical practitioners. There are now a number of surgical procedures where the doctors have to completely depend on the imaging process. Overall medical image processing is a sunrise sector both for imaging and bio-medical experts.
